A loving home for every child!

SOS Children's Village Multan opened its doors in a donated property in 1999, and was completed in the summer of 2002. The land for this project, as well as for the school, has been donated by the Government of Punjab. The Village has 17 family homes along with other facilities such as an auditorium, mosque and cricket field.

The city of Multan is located in the Punjab province of Pakistan. It is Pakistan's third largest city by area and its fifth largest by population. Located on the banks of the Chenab River in the geographic centre of the country, Multan is about 560km from the capital, Islamabad.

Helping over 1600 children from the region between 1999-2015

The first welfare programme of its kind in Multan, the first children were welcomed in 1999. Now, there are 190 children living in the Village (Feb 2017).

The SOS youth home is equipping older boys to take their first steps to independence. Four new buildings provide accommodation for 60 boys.

Catering for up to 1300 children and run on a not-for-profit basis, the SOS secondary school provides quality education to the children living in the Village as well as children from neglected and remote communities. Classes are offered from playgroup to F.A/F.Sc following an Oxford English syllabus. The school has achieved a 100% first division result since 2009.

The SOS Multan Institute of Technology (SMIT) opened its doors in October 2015.The area selected for this institute is inhabited by many low-income groups. This institute offers diploma-based trades and vocational trades.

Milestones of our lives

The Environment Protection Fund (TEPF) and SOS Children’s Village Multan have joined hands to develop this innovative project. Through it, children are learning to give back to society by nurturing and caring for their surroundings, interacting with minority groups and strengthening religious tolerance. Every child leaving the secondary school will have actively participated in voluntary drives, which are organised, supported and a certified by TEPF.

The English language software programme is up and running, accommodating more than 1200 students a week. We expect this to drastically change the linguistic skills of our children, preparing them for a very competitive world.

In November 2015, a musical fundraising evening and dinner was organised by SOS Children’s Village Multan to celebrate 40th anniversary of SOS Pakistan. The local community actively supported the event, and their spirit and support was commendable.
